Thousands of years before the dawn of western science and the birth of modern medical and psychological practices eighteen scientific and spiritually minded men and women of the ancient Tamil culture of India, performed careful observations and experiments in order to answer such fundamental questions as "Who am I?", "How can I gain mastery of myself?", and "How can I help those who are sick and suffering?" As a result of their research, these eighteen Tamil Siddhas developed the scientific art of perfect God and Truth union, known as YOGA. Continuing in the tradition of these eighteen Tamil Siddhas, the great Himalayan, Living Master Kriya Babaji Nagaraj crystallized their discoveries into a dynamic and practical yoga for modern times. This yoga is called Kriya yoga, means "practical yogic technique". Thus, through Kriya yoga, mastery of Self and the attainment of well-being on all five levels of human functioning - physical, vital, mental, intellectual and spiritual - is a doable goal.
